Today I made my handsome husband a warm winter blanket. I have already posted a blanket that I made for my sister-in-law. I created one for him using the same fleece material only in different colors.
On Saturday late, I ventured to Jo-Ann fabric and craft store. I have been wanting to purchase this cutting board to help me mark straight lines when I am pinning material together.
This is regularly priced at $19.99. However, I had a 50% off coupon. I was able to buy this for $9.99. Woohoo. A great deal.
When I was there I purchased the material for my husbands blanket. The material was on sale for 70% off. I bought his material at $2.99 a yard. I purchased a total of 4 yards. Regular price for 2 yards of material was $19.98. I paid $5.98 for 2 yards. I was so excited!
I love me a bargain.
So let's get sewing.
Here are the material and thread that I used. I used Coats and Clark thread in the color 8550.
Following the same steps that I used to sew my sister-in-laws Bears blanket, I pinned the wrong sides together, picked a decorative stitch, and sewed together all 4 sides. I cut off the excess material around the edges.
And voila! I was finished.
I was able to get straight lines using the cutting board. I highly recommend purchasing this for sewing and even other craft projects.
Here is my handsome husband's completed warm winter blanket.
Easey. Peasey.
The only problem I had was with my sewing machine. Ugh! First, I ran out of bobbin thread. Then, after I rewound the bobbin, the tension somewhere was not right and it kept bunching the bobbin thread. I worked on that for about half an hour. I finally fixed it but, it was just so frustrating.
Ok, enough of my complaining. My husband is very happy with it.
Everyone, thank you so much for reading
Have a blessed day!
