Last month I took a class at my local community college. In that class, I learned how to make bath bars. But, the instructor also gave us a recipe for laundry soap, which we made in class. The recipe calls for only 3 ingredients,
1 cup of Borax detergent booster
1 bar of Fels-Naptha
1 cup of Arm and Hammer Super Washing Soda
In a large container, grate one bar of the Fels-Naptha.
Add in one cup of the Borax detergent booster.
Add in one cup of the Arm and Hammer Super Washing Soda.
Combine all of the ingredients together either by stirring, or put the lid on your container and give it a shake.
Use 1 tablespoon for 1 load of wash. This will not bubble, but your wash will be clean. The Fels-Naptha is a laundry aid that removes stains from clothing. The cost of the soap will be 3.5 cents per load. When I put in an extra size load of laundry, I will put in 2 tablespoons for good measure.
When I brought my soap home my handsome husband thought the soap had a nice clean smell. So we put some in a bowl and set it up out of sight on a shelf. The smell is comparable to a commercial Clean Linen scent.
I have tried this and I have noticed that the laundry does come clean, free of stains, without all of the added fake commercials perfumes.
Let me know, in the comments below, if you have tried this laundry detergent. Let me know, also, of any hand made detergents you have tried.
Have a blessed day!
