Since incorporating healthier alternatives, instead of the harmful chemicals I used to use to clean my home, I was thrilled to discovered that Borax is a natural substance, sodium borate, a colorless crystal that when mixed with water is easily dissolved. When seasonal lakes repeatedly evaporate, sodium borate is created. (source) As always use care when in close proximity to children and pets.

1. Make your own laundry detergent. Combine 1 cup Borax with 1 cup Arm and Hammer laundry aid. Grate in Fels Naptha. Store in an air tight container.
2. Goo Remover. Using the same concept as my post on how to remove goo with baking soda, mix together 2 parts of Borax to 1 part water. In the same aspect as my goo remover recipe, you can make as much of the solution as you need for the project.
3. Clean your sink. I have been searching for a natural substitute to replace the chemical scrubbing solution I now use to clean my kitchen sink. I was excited to find this recipe to replace the harsh chemicals. Mix together 1 cup Borax with 1/4 cup lemon juice. Use a cloth or sponge and scrub the stainless steel or porcelain sink. Store in an air tight container.
4. Clean the toilet bowl. Put 1 cup of Borax in the bowl before retiring for the night. The Borax will loosen the grime. The next morning wipe away the grime with a toilet brush.
5 Deodorize you garbage pail. Sprinkle Borax in the bottom of the pail. This not only deodorizes but, keeps away the pesky bugs.
