Natural Room Freshener With Baking Soda and Essential Oils

baking soda and essential oils

Baking soda has many uses.

Essential oil has many uses.

Combine these two together and you create a healthy, non toxic room freshener. Safe for everyone, including the pets in your home.

Using just these two ingredients, I created a wonderful room freshener without all of the chemical yuck.

Baking soda is a useful item that I have in my house. Do you have baking soda in your cabinets?

I used:  4 tablespoons of baking soda

             10 drops of Lavender oil

I put the 4 tablespoons of baking soda in my container and added the 10 drops of lavender oil. (You can add more essential oil, or less, depending on the degree of potency you want the freshener to emit.) I stirred the ingredients together until it formed a "lumpy" consistency.

That is it. Two ingredients, 1 container, and a room freshener that does not contain harmful chemicals.

I placed the bowl in the living room and now this room has a subtle "lavender" smell. Not overpowering, just a slight fragrance.

In the past, I used plug in air fresheners. These plug ins put toxic chemicals into the air. I should have known this. Once, when I placed a new replaceable refill on my kitchen table, the solution ate away the varnish on the table and left a permanent ring. Just think of that.

Now, with this healthy alternative recipe, if I spill some of the contents on a table, it cleans and conditions the top of the table. No poisonous after effects!

If you have any other essential oils you have used to freshen your rooms, please leave a comment below with your recommendations.

P.S. If you have any questions about essential oils, please send me an email. I would love to hear from you.
