New to Network Marketing - Have Plenty Of Business Cards With You

New to Network Marketing-Have plenty of business cards with you

I know this sounds obvious, but allow me to explain.

After I created the blog post, Where to strategically place your business cards, I proceeded to go to businesses and ask them if it would be possible for me to place my business card on their public business card display.

Now, let me stress here that you need to carry a handful of business cards with you when you ask for permission from the businesses.

Because...

As I was leaving my local health food store, I noticed a business card bulletin board behind a door that is usually open. I had never noticed this board before. Well, being the introvert that I am, instead of asking to put my business card on the board right then and there, I went home and called the business to ask if I could possibly place my card on their board.

Well, of course, they said that it was OK and to bring in my business card.

Helpful hint- I did notice that the board was very cluttered. So I quickly ran to our local Dollar Tree and picked up a box of push pins. This way I was prepared and I would not have to move anyone’s card for a push pin.

When, I went back to the health food store, the young clerk took my, one, card and he seemed impressed that I had everything ready for him to put my card on the board. Plus, he placed the card on the edge of the crowded board so that it was visible for everyone to see and not hidden by the door.

Score!

Now, here is where my story turns very wrong.

I am sharing these experiences with you because I am very new to network marketing and I want to help others learn from my mistakes, and not do as I do.

At another store I noticed a rack for business cards. A cute turn table type of display. So I took my one- let me just stress this here, 1- business card into the store and asked if it would be possible to place my business card on the said rack. Now, I had attached an essential oil lemon sample with a cute paper clip to the card. This young clerk was familiar with essential oils. We discussed diffusers and then he proceeded to take the sample off of the back of the card and he put it in his wallet.

OK

I put out my hand for him to give the card back to me. Thinking in my head that I needed to get another sample, put it on this same card and place this card on the rack.

Because apparently, I only have one card with me, at any given time.

This young clerk was very sweet and handed me back the card. I went back to my car, attached another essential oil sample under the paper clip, went back inside and placed that same card on the business card rack.

Yep. I did this.

On the way home, I realized how many other ways I could have handled this situation.

So many.

I just kept playing it over in my head. Why did I take the card back? Why was I so nervous? And...why did I not take in more than one business card?

Next time I will have my hand full of business cards to place on the boards and give to clerks who might have an interest in essential oils.

This is not the first mistake I have made in my business, and I am sure it will not be the last.

So here is my network marketing helpful hint #1, have plenty of business cards handy when asking to place your card on the retail business card display board!

Now to you...
